This four-week online public program is an opportunity to journey into the work of Joseph Campbell with Pacifica faculty and a community of online learners. Participants will be guided through a week-by-week syllabus that includes video lectures, photographs, readings, and faculty-facilitated small discussion groups. The readings for A Cup of Joe are The Hero With A Thousand Faces and two essays from Flight of the Wild Gander. Video lectures feature Pacifica faculty Christine Downing, Dennis Patrick Slattery, Evans Lansing Smith, and Maren Hansen. Online discussion groups are facilitated by Safron Rossi, Jennifer Selig, and Maren Hansen.
No prior study of Joseph Campbell is necessary. Estimated participation time, including lectures, reading, and online discussion will average four hours per week, depending on individual reading speed and the extent of participation in online discussion. Weekly activities are scheduled at the convenience of the participant.
