Needs a location
It's our last weekend session in this format* and we wanted to run out with a bang, so how about an inductee into the BC SPORTS HALL OF FAME for SAILING (http://www.bcsportshalloffame.com/inductees/inductees/bio?id=367&type=person)?
Don Martin has had quite the adventure designing and building boats, coaching our national Olympic Sailing Team, working as inspector for competitors at the America's Cup in Spain (2007) and rebuilding Vancouver's most historically significant sailing vessel. That really just scratches the surface.
In this session, we'll warm up with a recap of Don's history and the marks he's put into our local and international sailing community.
Then, as we all look ahead to racing adventures at all level, from Friendly Friday Nights to more serious programs, we'll advance the sail trim and boat speed topics up to add tactics. Not sure what a lift or header is? Need some tips on starting better? Who better than an olympic level coach? We know that Don has taken topics that take some weeks to describe and boiled it down to minutes.
We're taking Don for lunch afterwards, so join the legend face to face as we relive the decision and setting that caused those Martin 244's to be built for our club. Oh ya - he designed our boats!
As a past commodore of Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, we've heard him called "The Donald", but don't worry, this Canadian version is entertaining in a way that's relevant to any sailor and more politically correct.
• This session is priced for sailors - FREE AS THE WIND
• RSVP here right away
*Future sessions are being altered to FRIDAY NIGHTS - "on season" we sail, "off season", we learn, share and bond as only passionate sailors can.
**For those who were scheduled for the EMERGENCIES CLINIC, Patrick is getting another time lined up - so don't fear and please stay safe until that topic rolls out.
