PhotoExhibition: For Exhibitors, Sept 2011 Group Exhibition at HKCC

This is a Group Photo Exhibition organized by Beijing Institute of Photography Correspondence, Shenzhen Institute for their Professors and Students. 

We are representing their Hong Kong Region to be part of the Participants.

All submitted photos to be reviewed by the professors before exhibiting and it is not a competition. Instead, it provides a platform to the students in 2 regions learning from each others as well as learning from their professors' work.

Details as below:

(1) Exhibition Date/ Time : 24th - 25th Sept 2011, 9am - 11pm

(2) Venue : E2, Main Hall, Hong Kong Culture Centre.

(3) The professors will select 15-18 photos from our events to be the Participants. 

(4) You don't need to post the high resolution file for reviewing until your photos are selected, then we'll contact you for printing file.

(5) Deadline: Please post your photos  HERE on/ before 20th Aug, 2011.

(6) Reviewed Date: The professor will review on 25th - 26th Aug, 2011

(7) Announced Date: We'll announce the confirmed participants on 29th Aug, 2011 by posting comments on the event.

(8) When uploading your photos, please consider to put your water mark on the photos for your copy right purpose.

(9) Each participants can submit 2 photos max.

(10) Category: Landscape

(11) We'll inform the name of the Professors and the standard of their review ASAP.

For the Confirmed Participants with the selected photos:

(1) The Confirmed Participants make their own decision to keep or sell your photos by your own/ agent after exhibition.

(2) We share the cost of exhibition fee, approx HK$37.50 or HK75.00 (If I am not able to apply the fund for 50% less)

(3) We share the cost of ONE Photo Book if we agree to go for it, approx HK$20. I am checking if we can print the name and contact of the Photographer on the Photo Book beside your photos.

(4) I am checking your thought and budget of the Print+Mount+Frame and we'll discuss once the photos are selected. I am trying to do something workable for all parties.

(5) Artists (Confirmed Participants) Reception - Time to be advised and some of our Professors will be attending as supporting the event.

(6) Specification:

Image Size: 11x16.5 Inches Image Size (11x11 Inches for square image size or 11 Inches on longest edge) printed on 13 x 19 Inches (A3+) Paper Size 

20x16 Inches Mount Size 

The total framed size will be around 22x18 Inches (Frame is made of high quality 1x1 Inches wood in black or brown)

(7) We do not make any decision of the quoted on Print+Mount+Frame at the moment and we'll come back for discussion once the review is done. We'll check the Confirmed Participants of their thought and budget to make final decision.

(8) If any of your works are attracting to the buyers before exhibition, we'll inform you of their information for your dealing.

(9) We cannot sell any of your works during the exhibition. If anyone is interested in your works, we'll mark down their information and pass it to the Confirmed Participants.

(10) We'll invite some of the local galleries attending to the exhibition.

(11) Total no. of art works for exhibition: 53 (all together including Professors + Shenzhen Students + Hong Kong Professors + Hong Kong Students)

    @Jovi, it is instructed by the institute coz it is a group exhibition and we provide 2 prices range for the participants to choose. We only accept 2 nominated suppliers on production. As you can find on the action report, we provide free inspection to ensure the quality. One day, when you are able to have your own Solo Exhibition, you can choose any suppliers you prefer.     The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government will respond the full production cost of the exhibited works. Therefore, please keep your invoice just in case if your works will be exhibited at the Macao Arts Festival 2012.

    Thanks Wing. I spoke with the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government regarding 23rd Macao Arts Festival in May 2012. At the moment, they are accepting the application of performance art and visual art will be in the coming stage. They are inviting us to send them an introduction email, Katherine and I will follow up later today. Our executive committee will be discussing and considering to apply the works from the current exhibition.

    Also, as I said, it is a quite good proven track for any photographers who intending to be Professional Photographers in one day by mentioning on their biography/ CV on the exhibited list - "Group Exhibition by Beijing Institute of Photography Correspondence" coz the institute is owned by China Government, not private.

    @Wing Liu, I understand how you feel. As I said, we'll be serious on the 2nd exhibition. The aim of the exhibition is to learn and share from each others with the harmony community. I considered if any case the participants were not able to check emails or access to meetup.com etc..while our final announcement.
    I agree with you, we should be serious on the 2nd exhibition by saying "Automatic Cancel RSVP if photo submission more than 2" and the participant needs to re RSVP and re submit again.

    That's why I am asking if anyone with objection of my suggested 6 photos. I am waiting for their reply of extra 2 photos from event host of Katherine Wong and I. If they can't, then I drop ours to complete.
    What I learnt from them, they picked most of the photos with fine art in prior than the photography tech skill which is the real value of Photography.

    @Bani, I am very honest here.
    The professor is only confirmed 13 of 50 photos. I asked them we need 4 photos more (17 photos in total for HK students).
    They came back and said that they couldn't do it coz the balance photos are not confirmed up their standard. If we need 4 photos more, just suggest another 4 photos to them as sub approved coz this is an exhibition, not competition, we learn and share from each other. It doesn't matter which one from the balance.

    Hi Jenny, Thanks for having my work in the sub approved list. But I'm not sure I understand what the issue is , i.e, what do we have to object to? IMHO if they give permission to allow two more works, then there's no issue right? But if they don't , the profs can just choose which ones among the six will be / will not be included. Am I right?

    Yes, only Katherine and I. If she doesn't mind and ok with her workload, we have 4 exhibitions coming :)....as well as 33 cities in China exhibit in Hong Kong. I bet we need 3 years to complete.
    Joseph is helping me on raising fund.
    Iris and Carol is helping on the Photo Review.
    Guys are helping on the events of shooting, printing, tech and commenting...I bet my workload is still ok.
    Lots of big plan coming, stay core!

    @All, I am working on the Action Plan for meeting with Katherine Wong on Sunday for discussion.
    We will be also discussing the opening/ artists reception date/ time on the meeting. The professors and participating students will be attending on the event, we'll have official event photographers for shots posting on the Beijing main website announcing the event for 33 cities in China.
