June 15, 6-8 pm Party at the Pump House

Want to get inside the 1882 Pump House building that is closed to the public?

Better yet, how about we have a party there in the second level ballroom?

Me too, but there is a catch. The group called Friends of the James River Park is having their annual social event there, but you have to be a member in order to attend. It'll cost you $15 annual membership or $5 for students.

You can join via this site:

http://www.jamesriverpark.org/be-a-friend/become-a-member.php

Here's what the Friends of the James River Park folks have to say about it:

"A beautiful night to meet and greet Richmond's River Lovers is planned at one of the city'spremiere historic sites.  The Friends annual picnic will be held at the Pump House on Saturday, June 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. Please bring a side dish and a portable chair; the Friends will provide beverages and chicken. Join us at this beautiful location but be aware there is quite a stairway to negotiate to enter the ballroom. Oh and remember, no alcoholic beverages are allowed in the Park."

Before you RSVP yes to this meet up, be sure you have completed your membership application.

Not only will you have a fun evening at what Ralph White describes as, "The most impressive and most beautiful piece of public architecture in Richmond", but you will also be contributing to the maintenance and preservation of the James River Park System where we all love to hike.

This was a fun time. Being able to just hang out and chat about things river related. As an extra bonus we got to meet Dennis' woman, Carol. Now we have a higher authority to go to if need be.
I've lived in Richmond most if my life and I've never been in the Pump House. Today I was there twice.
    Thanks Dennis.

I've been told by the Friends of the James River that desserts count as a side dish, so I'll be bringing chocolate cheesecake. (No bacon, sorry Mary).
