• 3rd Thursdays at Hurry Curry

    Hurry Curry of Tokyo

3rd Thursday of the month - time for curry in South Lake Union! Order food and beverages at the counter, join the meetup, and the servers will bring your food to you. Cash and Credit Cards accepted - get there before 7PM for Happy Hour specials. Japanese beer and sake available. Close to public transportation (Rapid Ride C or E, SLU Streetcar, bus lines 40, 8, and 62). Parking is quite manageable and free after 6 in SLU on the street (or a flat $2.44 for the evening in the underground garage). Always a good turn out for the meetup at this location. Nijikai options abound but will likely be at Gold Bar - one block south at 227 9th Ave N

  • Eastside Dinner Meetup! @Ginza

    Location visible to members

Ginza serves variety of Japanese dishes like Sushi, Yakiniku (BBQ), Izakaya style dishes, etc. The tatami room was already taken and we will be seated at a long table in the BBQ section. I'm not certain these tables have grills. The price could vary between $15 to $30+ depending on the dishes you order. The bus access is quite easy. 249, 550, 559 all stop a block away from this restaurant. Though there is a parking lot behind the restaurant, it's not a big one. We should be able to just park on the street in case it's is full. We will have a Nijikai closer to the 8th street as there is almost no bars open that late near the restaurant. Depending on the number of people interested in attending Nijikai, we might try Pearl, Joey or Stone lounge though the list is not limited to just those 3.

  • Ohanami!

    UW Quad

Please note, this event may change if there is inclement weather, so please check the website prior to the event. If the blossoms take longer to bloom or come in early, I will adjust accordingly. You might not have noticed, but it is spring and the sakura are upon us! Currently, the UW (https://twitter.com/uwcherryblossom) is reporting the blossoms will be blooming by the third week of the month. So, like usual, we'll have ohanami at the UW. Every year, this is a big and popular event for our group. Look for the group in the quad at the UW campus ( http://uw.edu/maps/?lndmk-1 ) as we'll have grabbed some space somewhere. Feel to bring any kind of blanket, tarp, or camp chairs you may have that are picnic-appropriate, as well as any food or drink to share. Please note: it is technically illegal to have or consume alcohol in public spaces in Seattle, but we won't stop you. Also, don't forget your camera, spouse, offspring, and/or pets, as I'm sure they'll enjoy the beautiful outdoor setting as well. After picnicking for a few hours, we'll probably head over to Big Time brewery for some beer and nijikai. So if you're coming later, please look for us there. Bus access is extremely easy, as numerous buses run into and through the u-district, or just take the light rail to husky stadium. Also, the UW campus has hundreds and hundreds of free parking spaces on the weekend: http://www.washington.edu/facilities/transportation/park Questions? Comments? Let us know.

  • Eastside Dinner Meetup! @Coco Izakaya

    Location visible to members

Coco Izakaya is a Korean/Japanese Izakaya style restaurant probably known for their Asian curry and Ramen. Last I checked, they prefer one check so bring cash or be ready to pay electronically, e.g., Venmo, PayPal, etc. There is a parking garage just under Coco Izakaya. I believe it's free with validation up to 2 (if I remember correctly) hours or $5 for evening parking. The Lincoln Square parking is free after 8PM and it's just across the street. So if you are staying for Nijikai, it might be safer to park there. If you are taking the bus, BTC is just across the street as well. https://www.cocoizakayabellevue.com/
