All things change constantly! So dealing with constantly changing data at low latency is pretty hard. It doesn't need to be that way. Apache Kafka, the _de facto_ standard open-source distributed stream processing system. Many of us know Kafka's architectural and pub/sub API particulars. Viktor will show how to build sophisticated stream processing apps (not clusters)! Viktor will take for a spin Kafka Streams, spring-kafka and spring-cloud-streams frameworks to stream processing applications.

Viktor Gamov is a Solution Architect at Confluent, the company behind the popular Apache Kafka streaming platform. Viktor has comprehensive knowledge and expertise in enterprise application architecture leveraging open source technologies and enjoys helping different organizations build low latency, scalable and highly available distributed systems. He is a professional conference speaker on Distributed Systems, Java, and JS topics, and is a regular at the most prestigious events including JavaOne, Devoxx, OSCON, Qcon and others (, co-host of and and a co-author of O’Reilly’s “Enterprise Web Development.”. Sales of semiconductor chips are up indicating the IoT era has started in earnest. After a few years of building momentum coupled with innovations in cloud infrastructure and developer APIs for machine learning, IoT is growing rapidly. At last year's Mobile Congress conference where you can get an idea of the near-term future, smartphones no longer provided the central theme. Everyone's focus was on network-connected devices for all types of intelligent applications.

Join John Walicki, IBM Watson Developer Advocate, for an introduction to working examples of IBM Watson’s cognitive APIs for the Java Platform. Learn how to leverage Watson Developer Cloud SDK for Java to access the Watson APIs and how you can use these services in your enterprise applications. We will also drill down into the Watson IoT platform and demonstrate cool demos to inspire you to create your own cognitive applications.
