Do you like the future? How about burgers? or Australia?

If you like any of them you have to attend our "Building The Web of The Future" event which will include a first time Australian speaker in JS-IL as well as free burgers and fruits.

How can you say no to all that? You can't :)

So do the right thing and RSVP right now!

Why Async Iterators Matter - (Benjamin Gruenbaum)

We're all just getting over having simpler native asynchronous flows in JavaScript with promises and async functions. A lot of the problems we deal with don't fit single-value semantics. Observables are often being sold to users as the solution to complicated asynchronous flows, however their counterpart - Async Iterators are almost never mentioned. Async Iterators are a ECMAScript proposal for simple complicated flows. In this talk we'll cover: - Async iterators and why they're important to our code base. - The new `for await` loops. - `async` functions that are also generators. - Problems with this approach and other approaches.

Benjamin Gruenbaum, a NodeJS member, open source guy and a spec geek. Builds cool things at TipRanks as head of the R&D team..

Creating Interactive Multiplayer Experiences with Firebase - (Mark Mandel)

Building realtime features that work on all your different devices is the holy grail of app development. The Firebase Realtime Database lets you store and sync data instantly, and allows you to build a web, mobile or Unity application in minutes without worrying about wiring up a backend. The real time aspect and a number of lesser known, powerful features (such as transactions) make it possible to create a multiplayer gaming experience as well.

In this session, we'll twist the traditional rock-paper-scissors into a web based, multiplayer happy-surprised-angry game using your facial expressions and a web-cam. We’ll use both old and new Firebase features to keep track of online players, synchronise game state across multiple connections, create chat rooms, and match players together for game play.

Mark Mandel, a Developer Advocate for Google Cloud Platform and one half of the Google Cloud Platform Podcast. Hailing from Australia, Mark built his career developing backend systems for over 15 years and authoring and contributing to several widely adopted open source projects. When he’s not building infrastructure in the cloud, he’s constantly looking for new and interesting things he can do with Docker containers, playing with his dog and reading too much fantasy literature.

Getting Physical with Web Bluetooth- (Uri Shaked)

It is time to get out of your web browser boundaries! With a new technology "Web Bluetooth", our web apps are finally able to communicate directly with Physical Devices and control them. Whether it is a heart-rate sensor, a BB-8 robot, or your smart refrigerator - Web Bluetooth got you covered. In this talk, we will learning the basics of the underlying Bluetooth Low Energy technology, then cover the Web Bluetooth APIs, and finally engage in a live demo where we will control a Smart Light Bulb, as well as a cute 3D-printed Robot, directly from a web page.

Uri Shaked, a Google Developer Expert for Web Technologies. He created the popular angular-moment open source module and regularly speaks about Web and IoT-related technologies in conferences and meetups. Among his interests are reverse engineering, hardware hacking, building 3d-printed robots and games, playing music and Salsa dancing.
