First Sundays: Cool Jazz Open Jam @ Robin's Nest, Linden

First Sundays at the Robin's Nest:

We've had a lot of fun at the Robin's Nest Sunday Jazz Jams, so we've made it a monthly event.

This is an open jam, so musicians and vocalists are invited to get on stage and join in on the fun.

We've already had several members grace us with their talents and it's always fun to see someone you know join the band for a few numbers.

There is no cover and the food is excellent, so bring an appetite!

If you come early enough, you can find parking in the lot adjacent to the building. When it fills up, though, there are plenty of side streets nearby where you can find parking without a problem.

Hope to see you there!

peace and jazz,
D.A.

I've said this before, but walking into the Robin's Nest feels like coming home. Another fun night featuring many talented musicians. And fellow Jazzville, NJ member, Joe, did amazing on the bass for a couple numbers. Hope you're up for playing at the next one, too :-)

We always have great fun at Robin's Nest and tonight was no different. The word is definitely getting around because there were a plethora of performers jazzing it up. Jazzville, NJ member Joe even got up and played two songs with the band!

Chisoo, Don't be nervous! The house band are complete pros. If you sit in with them, it will likely only be for 1-2 songs, because there are always a lot of people that way to play and everyone is taking turns.

So if you know 1-2 jazz standards and tell them you want to play those during your turn, I am sure you will be fine. You might need to tell them what key you want to play in, but even if you don't know, the keyboard player will ask you to play a few notes and he'll hear it right away.
And of course we'll cheer you on no matter what happens! Looking forward to meeting you and hearing you play!

I would love to join you for the jam, but I am a bit nervous. Is there a set of songs you usually play? It would be great if I could be prepared. =)
