Let's meetup to discuss "War with the Newts," by Karel Čapek!

We tried meeting up in New Albany and it was awesome!

Not many folks from the East Side came though, so we thought we'd alternate and meet up in Jeffersonville again this time.

Karel Čapek's writing is mind blowing.   He coined the term "robot", and envisaged them taking over from Mankind even before computers had been conceived.    Consider how trendy it is now to talk about an AI singularity, the point when artificial intelligence becomes self-aware, and how cutting edge such people believe themselves, (Yea, I'm guilty)!   Yet all this was envisaged convincingly 100 years ago in Mr. Capek's play, "R.U.R."!

His novel, "War With the Newts," is considered no less significant with the universal human applicability of the subject matter.    It is widely considered to be truly inventive and instructive to those that accept the message, and if not, there is still the story that entertains.   This book has been vetted by time and popularity, and ought to be as good an entry as any into the mind that was Karel Čapek.

There are a lot of cool covers out there for this book, unfortunately mine was not cool at all, but I trust all the words are there all the same.   I got it at Carmichael's for 20% off and you can too!   Just tell'em it's for the Jeffersonville/New Albany Book Club.
