Reconnect, rejuvenate and relax.

This group is for two practices that may seem similar but are different: Pranayama (Breath Control) and Meditation. Relaxation and stress release is guaranteed in both of them.

Breath affects and controls many of our body functions. When we breathe properly we manipulate these functions and improve our overall state of health. Pranayama is a conscious breath control technique that helps you achieve that. To control your breath is to control your mind. Meditation on the other hand is a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth.

If you're learning and want a practice that will prep your mind and leave it fertile to receive new information practice this before you start your studying. What is Yoga Nidra? It is a guided relaxation technique that takes people to a deeply relaxed state that is between wakefulness and dreaming stages. So you are actually awake but enjoying the mental state of a sleeping person. While other forms of meditation and yoga can be relaxing this restorative practice is more of a condensed form of mental, physical and emotional relaxation. So it has a deeper resting effect than even regular sleep for some people. How is it practiced? This is a one posture only practice. Which is the same posture that's on this event picture i.e. Lying down comfortably on the floor. Props and covers to insure maximum comfort can be used too though not necessary. I will verbally guide you through with mental body scanning and visualization. What are the benefits of Yoga Nidra? Some of the benefits are: - Deep muscular and mental relaxation. - Improved sleep. - Increased mental clarity, focus and awareness. - Self-recovery. - Stress and anxiety release. What will I need for this practice? - Comfortable clothing - Bare feet. - Carpet, exercise mat or yoga mat to lie down on. - You must be in a quiet room without interruption from others.
