So who am I and what makes me qualified to run this group? The short answer is that I am not a professional.
As a mom of teenagers I have realised that it is not so easy navigating the world of modern technology and the new breed of teenager.
I am a qualified life coach, life coach trainer and NLP practitioner but this is not what qualifies me to run the group. I am a mom who wants her teenagers to come out the other side of their teenage years as unique individuals who are confident in who they are and able to make wise decisions. I am learning as I go along but I do have some help. I share the journey with my daughter and son who teach me new things every day. I have realised that they are unique individuals and that they are indeed more expert at making decisions for themselves with the right guidance and tools. I have the privilege of travelling this journey with another wise individual. My brother Ryan. As a music teacher he is in contact with teenagers on a daily basis. This brings a completely different perspective on the teenage world. His unique strength is awakening the wisdom that is already inside both parents and teens. He is exposed to the part of the teenage world that we as parents don’t see. A few things I have learnt about this territory:
Population size : 1 – it is only the teenager that counts in their world.

Climate : Be prepared for all weather. It can change at a moment’s notice. Transportation: Unfortunately you cannot rely on public transport. You will have to do the trips to the mall on your own

Tour guides : You will be inundated with advice from well-meaning friends, family and people who claim to be professionals. Not one of those people can know what’s right for your child. Local currency: This is a somewhat interesting economy. For smaller purchases you can get by on airtime, data etc.

Local customs and language : The locals are friendlier than they might appear if you make an effort to get to know them. You will need to learn some new words such as “bea” “yolo” and of course text language “WUU2”, “BRB” etc.

Best time of the year to visit : Anytime. The more time you spend with your teenager the more you will learn and the better you will be able to communicate. I look forward to discovering the new territory together with you.
