Pine Bush, NY (March 30, 2010) – Pine Bush Agway is pleased to announce their grand opening celebration on Saturday, April 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with activities all day ranging from Mule Rides, Bounce House, 4-H Burger Burn, Popcorn, Sno Cones, Prizes, Giveaways and much more along with a special appearance by Andy Schneider, a.k.a. "The Chicken Whisperer" who is also a Purina Poultry Ambassador. Andy will be broadcasting his radio program, “Backyard Poultry with the Chicken Whisperer,” live from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. then conducting a Poultry Owner's Worshop from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Pine Bush Agway located at 105 Depot St. Pine Bush, NY 12566. The event is for all ages and free to the public.

As part of their grand opening celebration, Larry Dumain and Al Howard are pleased to provide Pine Bush and surrounding communities with the resources to learn more about how to raise backyard poultry. The popularity of raising poultry in both farms and urban backyards is sweeping the nation and providing chicken owners with healthier meat and eggs, homegrown food and fun pets.

“Farm families have known the joys of raising their own poultry for years, but people everywhere are beginning to realize the many benefits of raising poultry, even if it’s right in their backyards,” said Al Howard, General Manager of Pine Bush Agway. “We are excited to help families get started with their own flocks, so they too can participate in the chicken raising trend.”

Pine Bush Agway has experts available to offer advice and guidance on everything from how to raise chickens from freshly hatched chicks through laying, as well as other species from horses, dogs, cats, cows.

As part of Pine Bush Agway’s grand opening celebration they will be providing special cost-savings on Certified Natural Start & Grow® or Flock Raiser® feed from Purina, as well as Purina Horse Feeds, Purina Bird Chow and dog and cat feed, top soil, red cedar mulch, and potting mix.

“I am delighted to be in town supporting Larry and Al and Pine Bush Agway’s grand opening celebration,” said Andy Schneider, “The Chicken Whisperer” and Purina Poultry Ambassador. “It is always a pleasure to share the benefits of poultry raising. For adults there’s a sense of pride and of self-sufficiency in raising your own food, and children learn responsibility and make a worthwhile contribution to the household by caring for the flock.”
