Jewish Cultural Arts Festival

This is a big festival held every year on the grounds of the JCC, music, culture, art and crafts booths and food and more. This is a beautiful campus if you have never been there, off 115th and Nall.

***UPDATE***

I am working until 12:45 at the Family Pavilion (doing arts and crafts, if you have kids bring them by there). The stage is across from this tent so let's meet at the stage @1:00 the back row. I do not have the schedule and do not know if there will be a performance at this time.

If you have met me look for me in a white volunteer shirt, or look for Pete.

The festival opens at 11:00 a.m for people that want to get there early. Over 60 artisans from as far away as Isreal will be there.

To park for the festival come in on 115th street West off of Nall and you will be directed to the Sprint parking structures there are shuttles that go from the structure to the festival (it is not that far away)

Please check out this link for tickets, you can get a discount at selected Hen House or Hy Vee stores, 6.00 advance sale

You do not have to be Jewish to enjoy the colorful sights and sound of this culture!

Very nice festival, some nice art, food, the weather was perfect. Sorry the others could not make it. Met a new friend today, Adam. Welcome to the group!

It was an enjoyable afternoon. I'm not sure I like the 'shekels' idea for purchasing food because after getting my tokens it seemed I either had to go back to buy more to purchase a food, or I had left over tokens that could not be redeemed if unspent. I would prefer all the entertainment be cultural as the band I listened to seemed to be an average band, nothing specifically related to this culture.

the falafel in L.A are pretty darn good. Lots of Isreali's and Persians live there.

it seems most fesitivals run this way with the food coupons. They are non refundable, I have been to many and ended up giving a coupon to a kid walking around (carnival rides are notorious for this also)

I had no idea this was such a large festival! It was fantastic! I visited most of the info booths, bought a shuttlecock t-shirt from a woman in the art tent and ate some delicious latkes too. I had a really nice afternoon. :) Sorry I didn't get to spend much time with the meetup group folks. I was sort of on a date so we just walked around by ourselves. Many thanks to Bonnie for all the work organizing and making sure everyone had the information. And thanks so much for letting me buy the ticket from you! :)

I'm bringing a friend, but we're going to the REI store grand opening event first before the festival ~ they open at 11am. Probably be to this festival by noon at the latest. I'll be at the 1pm meeting spot. :)

I'm going to pick my ticket up Saturday at The Learning Tree in Corinth shops. I've had a bad week health-wise and just want to make sure I'll be up for this festival, but really really want to make it out. I'll probably be there earlier and just stay for a couple hours tops (like from 12-2pm). I'll keep an eye on the comments and do my best to find y'all. :) Thanks, Bonnie!

I 'signed up' but won't be there until 1pm-ish as I am doing the 3-mile Alzheimer's walk at 11am. *** By the way, anyone who would care to make a donation to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of any amount to support my arches (oops, I mean effort), tax receipts are available.

    1 · September 20, 2013

    • Sharon

I can take checks made to the Alzheimer Assoc. or cash and then email you a receipt OR - To make an online pledge where the tax receipt is automatically emailed, enter my name on the 'donate' section of http://act.alz.org/si...
