on "Epigenetics". Tonight, Sat, Aug 4, 7pm at Perkins. Hiten is always a lot of fun and is always full of interesting new facts in science so you don't want to miss this!
JOIN US FOR A GREAT NIGHT AND WE'LL GO OUT AFTERWARDS FOR MORE TALK WITH HITEN.
Just when I think that I understand something, new research comes and amends my
knowledge, sometimes refining, sometimes refuting what I once knew.
So when I learned about evolution and Genetics in the medical school, and I thought I understood it well enough to disseminate my knowledge, I am now learning even more. Here is the case of Genetics. We talked about it at length one night at Perkins. I now want to tell you about epigenetics. So it may not take thousands of generation to evolve as we may have thought at one time. New data suggest much faster changes. Faster, as in only two of three generations. How much a mother’s baby will weigh depends on what her grand grandmother’s diet was like. We will look at the latest research and see the
implications on future generations will be.
After the talk, you will have basic vocabulary and principles to become informed consumer of medical research. I hope you can join me on this journey. And bring your questions.
