A wildlife walk on the Eddy-Ballentine and Blue River Glades trails in central Kansas City MO near Swope Park. About 2 miles, casual pace. Oak-Hickory forest and glades, with large outcroppings of Bethany Falls limestone. RSVP here (preferably) or by e-mailing me at MichaelR42@runbox.com.
Outings like this are one way our local Sierra Club group raises money to fund operations. A donation of $2 would be gratefully accepted.
Please do not sign-up for this outing if you will be participating in the one on the 24th in order to give other people a chance.
Parking is very limited and can be tricky! The location shown on the map above is the south trail head where the hike will begin. There is enough space to park 2 or 3 cars there on the east shoulder of the road. About 100 feet north and on the west side of the road is a larger parking area next to the electrical substation. A couple hundred feet further north and on the east shoulder is room for another 3 or 4 cars.
During the sign-in process all participants on Sierra Club outings are required to sign a standard liability waiver. If you would like to read the Liability Waiver before you choose to participate in an outing, please go to: http://www.sierraclub.org/outings/chapter/forms/ .
