Winter Hike on Perry Lake Trail Part 2

Following up on our hike of Section 2 East on January 11, we'll hike Section 3 from to Kiowa Road and back as it winds along the south side of Little Slough Creek. We will meet at the Old Military Trail Hiking Trail Access on the west side of Ferguson Road just south of 94th Street (same meeting location as the January 11 hike). If you're heading north and hit the bridge over Little Slough Creek, you've gone too far.

Driving map

Section 3 is 3.5 miles long and offers a more remote look at the Perry Lake area. This section starts at the Old Military Trail parking lot and heads east into the backwaters of Little Slough Creek. We will hike out and back on the “Purple” section, making this a 7.0 mile hike round trip.

Trail map

This hike may be cancelled if trails are impassable due to weather conditions or temperatures are dangerously cold.

I had a good time again today, too! I am excited for the next one! Here's to a little less snow, though!

Nice hike on a cold day. Well done Tim and Derek! Switching trail starting point was well handled at last minute.

We've got some sort of "bug" at our house and I won't be able make it today. Sorry to miss hiking the other side of the trail.

For those of you who haven't arrived yet, we are changing the starting location for today's hike due to impassable conditions at the old military trail head. Call me for directions. [masked]

I look forward to seeing everyone. This is a new trail for me, so it should be exciting.

I am not a morning person, I hope to see hikes that are more for afternooners.

Sue's comment about directions reminded me -- I should probably post my phone number. [masked]

Looking forward to seeing everybody on the trail tomorrow! The latest forecast is for a high of 55 and partly sunny. The up side: Nice warm weather for hiking. The down side: It's going to be sloppy out there. Probably a combination of mud and leftover snow. 1) boots a must 2) trekking poles advised 3) if you have gaiters -I'd recommend wearing them.

I had a great time on part 1! I will work on more walks/hikes to be sure I'm up for the 7 miles, and I'm really excited to try it again!
