AKC Novice Rally Class #3

Come learn this fun, yet challenging activity for you and your dog.  It is for dogs of all ages that have had previous training in the Basic Commands....sit, stay, down, and heel.

What is Rally?

AKC Rally is one of the newest dog sports, a successful stepping stone from the AKC Canine Good Citizen® program to the world of obedience or agility.  A great way to enhance your skills in working together as a team.  Rally offers both the dogs and handlers an experience that is fun and energizing.

A rally course includes 10 to 20 stations, depending on the level. Scoring is not as rigorous as traditional obedience. Unlimited communication from the handler to the dog is to be encouraged and not penalized. Unless otherwise specified in these Regulations, handlers are permitted to talk, praise, encourage, clap their hands, pat their legs, or use any verbal means of encouragement. Multiple commands and/or signals using one or both arms and hands are allowed; the handler's arms need not be maintained in any particular position at any time. The handler may not touch the dog or make physical corrections. At any time during the performance, loud or harsh commands or intimidating signals will be penalized.

What to bring:

Lots of small, soft treats
6 ft leash
Flat collar, chain collar, or martingale collar
kennel for your dog if you have one
water for you and your dog

If a copy of your up-to-date shot records are not on file in another class, please bring a hard copy of your shot records to be attached to your registration form.

A $60 donation is required to take the session of 6 classes.  If you are a new member, a fee of $20 will secure your membership through June 2014.

**A minimum of 4 dogs is required to hold this class.   Maximum is eight teams.
