Gunung Angsi with its moderate altitude of 825 meters is nevertheless one of the highest mountains of Negeri Sembilan. There are two treks up Gunung Angsi, one via the Ulu Bendol Forest Park and one through Bukit Putus. We follow the Bukit Putus trail, which is said to be the easier trek. There are a few steep climbs, but also some easy jungle walking. The top has a nice garden-like open space where you can relax before you start the descent.
This is a hike which is perfect for “beginners” and “less experienced hikers”. However, physical fitness is a prerequisite. Please also read the “Beginners” hike message on the message board to avoid all misunderstandings...
We focus on group dynamics and would really appreciate it that more experienced hikers will support their less-experienced peers. All hikers should meet each other again at the top, so descent should only start after the last hikers have summited.
In order to allow me to communicate directly with the participants, no guests are allowed. At many occasions in the past, guests were not properly briefed by their respective hosts. If you want your guests to participate, ask them to sign up as a member; it's free. They can cancel their membership after the hike if they want to.
Besides the classical hiking tips, please note the following:
wear shoes with profile (a pattern on the soles to prevent slipping and gliding). Adidas Kampung is fine.
rain gear is recommended
bring a towel and some dry clothes and leave it in the car - passengers also bring some newspapers and towels in order to keep your driver's car as clean as possible
we don't have to cross any streams
pack all your sensitive stuff in your backpack in plastic bags
there are no restrooms at the car park, but there is a small water source a short distance away
a pair of gloves doesn't weigh that much (thorns, roots, trees, mud)
bring enough drinks and snacks (carbohydrates). For this hike you will need at least 2 to 3 liters of drinks. Dried fruits are preferred over chocolate...
leech protection is advisable but not really necessary
bring a whistle; if you have a headlamp, bring it along as well
please be responsible and don't litter – be sure not to leave any rubbish along the track and at the summit
