What we're about

Previously called Mindfully Together, KMMG is a weekly evening of Buddhist mindfulness meditation in association with Richmond Mindfulness Meditation Group. We average 22 meditators attending each week. We aspire to bring mindfulness, concentration, compassion, and insight to daily living. Our meetings will give us the opportunity to practice guided meditation, walking meditation and silent sitting meditation. We also share readings from a wide range of Buddhist and other spiritual teachers. There is an opportunity for “mindful speaking” in which we communicate with compassionate listening and loving speech. Our meetings are open to all. You do not need to be a Buddhist to attend, nor do you need any previous experience of meditation.

Kingston Quaker Centre is a beautiful new building built to high architectural and environmental standards. A quiet and peaceful space intended for silently meeting together. Richmond Mindfulness Meditation Group is a friendly and inclusive group, founded in 1997, with both Buddhist and non-Buddhist members. The Group is inspired by and associated with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s Community of Interbeing and with the Insight Meditation tradition of Gaia House.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our meetings in this inspiring and beautiful space. You do not need to join Meetup in order to attend.

Kingston Quaker Centre address: Fairfield East, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 2PT. Directions from Kingston train station to Kingston Quaker Centre are here. If you are coming by bus from Ham/Richmond, take the 65, alight at Cromwell Road or Eden Street and you can follow the same map. From Surbiton/Esher, alight in Eden Street.

Parking available for the disabled only with or without blue badge. Full disabled access and hearing loop. Other cars can be parked at Cattle Market car park. The nighttime rate applies at local car parks and ranges from £2.10 to about £3.00 for the whole evening. We have plenty of bike racks.

There is no charge for attending our meetings but donations of £3-£5 are gratefully accepted towards running costs.

We have many members who are not on the Meetup list, so RSVPs do not reflect true numbers attending.

Note: For the avoidance of doubt, Mindfully Together is neither a therapeutic group nor a stress reduction group. Our meetings have a minimum age limit of 17 and we regret that children cannot be brought to our meetings.

Beginners and experienced Meditators equally welcome to our online Sangha. The meeting will start at 7:30pm using Zoom. Go to this link to join us from 7:15pm: https://bit.ly/KMMGOnlineSangha If you don't have a PC or smart phone you can also dial in using one of these numbers: [masked] [masked] [masked] And use Meeting ID[masked] and passwd:[masked] (Calls are at a standard rate and will be included in any minutes you have.) Top tips: 1. When you click on the link it will prompt you to download the Zoom client if you don't yet have it. Give yourself a bit of extra time to do this. 2. If you are new to Zoom we the meeting will be open from 7:15pm and we recommend you connect early to iron out technical difficulties and avoid unnecessary stress :-) If you are comfortable with Zoom please join at 7:25pm 3. Make sure you are sitting comfortably in a place where you won't be disturbed. 4. We expect the group to last about 1 hour to 1 hour 15mins. It will have a similar format to the normal group: a guided meditation, some silent sitting, a short dharma reading or poem and some sharing. The practices are along the traditions of Thich Nhat Hanh's teaching, Gaia House and Insight Meditation, but also from other traditions (or none!) which group members find beneficial and from the heart. Guidance is given prior to each practice, and attendees are invited to observe or participate, as they wish. During most of the practices, we will be muting the group members so that everyone can relax into their own meditation without disturbance. Please bear with us for the first few meetings whilst we iron out any technical difficulties and get used to the platform and this new way of being together. If you have a problem, common Zoom questions and difficulties are covered here https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206175806-Frequently-Asked-Questions and we are happy to help if we can too. Your feedback and suggestions will be much appreciated http://www.kingstonmeditation.org.uk/contact-us/ . We will do the best we can. And we invite you to come back to your breath if things aren't working the way that you want, breathe right down into your belly for a few breaths and if you can find a smile for yourself. And perhaps consider - why should everything always go your way? "Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Instead, let life live through you. And do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know that the side you are used to is better than the one to come?" ~ Rumi
