SO WHAT'S THE MEETUP?
Every Tuesday we run a beginner-friendly session at our base in Graveney School in Tooting. The session will be led by a qualified korfball coach and will cater for players of all abilities. The first two session you attend are free and will begin ay 19:30 and will finish at 21:30. BUT HANG ON, WHAT EVEN IS KORFBALL?
Korfball is a fun and exciting sport that anyone can play. It bears similarities to netball and basketball in that the aim is to throw a ball into a basket but there a number of rules that mean it is quite different to both. Uniquely, it is the world's only exlusively MIXED-SEX SPORT. This means that all korfball teams must always have four male and four female players on the court at all times. Each player is then in a duel with an opponent of the same sex and must use their speed, agility and skill to break free to shoot and score. This creates a fast, dynamic sport that requires teamwork and cooperation to achieve success. Korfball is still relatively unheard of in the UK but it has been around for over a 100 years and is played in more than 60 countries around the world. The rules are easy to learn and luckily a nice chap called Ninh has created the video below to explain them in a bit more detail:
