What we're about

Our meetup group provides a peaceful and inspiring environment in which people from all walks of life can learn about Buddhism and meditation.

Our meetups provide a year round program of meditation classes that offer practical advice on how to apply Buddha's teachings to our daily activities. We are dedicated to helping people everywhere find meaning in their lives and to the development of genuine inner peace and happiness in the world.

If there is not a meetup scheduled please feel free to drop into our Meditations for World Peace Beginner Classes (https://meditationintampabay.org/weekly-meditation-courses/classes-at-the-safety-harbor-center/sunday-prayers-for-world-peace-class/).

The Path to Enlightenment

Needs a location

In Person & Online
with Resident Teacher Kadam Michelle

The Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, or “Lamrim” in Tibetan, is a sophisticated, practical presentation of Buddhist teachings, designed to help us improve and spiritually grow in a deliberate and joyful way.
The Lamrim takes us step-by-step through carefully crafted meditations so we can purposefully nourish the qualities in our mind that lead to an authentic happiness, a reduction in our painful thoughts and feelings, and most importantly, a selfless attitude towards all others. By practicing these 15 meditations in conjunction with one another we will notice our mind becoming healthier, stronger, and finally more enlightened.

In this class, we will go one-by-one through each of the 15 Lamrim meditations as explained in ‘Mirror of Dharma’ by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, drawing out how we can personally use these meditations and create our own daily meditation practice. There will be a special emphasis on the art of meditation and how to make our lamrim meditations effective in our everyday life.

Meditations for World Peace - The Peace of Patience Series

Needs a location

$10.00

In Person & Livestream
Patience is an inner strength that enables us to accept and grow from whatever life throws at us. Without cultivating patience we remain vulnerable to anxiety and frustration, and it is difficult for us to maintain peaceful relationships with others. If on the other hand we understand what true patience is and how extraordinarily valuable it is, we will be motivated to practice patience in daily life.

In this series we will explore teachings and meditations taught by Buddha, which are practical methods for practicing true patience. Through improving our wisdom we can effectively work to change things for the better from a place of peace rather than agitation or anger. By using these methods in our daily life we will develop an inner peace that cannot be disturbed by changing conditions.

May 8: What is Anger?
May 15: Is Anger Ever Beneficial?
May 22: Why We Get Angry
May 29: Controlling Anger vs Repressing
June 5: Transforming Suffering
June 12: Dealing with Hurt Feelings
June 19: Profound Patience
June 26: Patience of Not Retaliating
