What we're about

The goals of this group are 1) to create a community of practice for Unified Mindfulness in the Kansas City area; 2) to explore and learn Unified Mindfulness in connection with others; and 3) to explore the intersection of Unified Mindfulness with other contemplative systems and modern science. We do this through a variety of community practice groups, classes, retreats and other mindfulness activities. All members are invited to suggest and lead events that help meet the group’s goals. If you are familiar with the Unified Mindfulness system and are interested in being a co-organizer, let us know!

To encourage an engaged community, members who have not participated in at least one event within a year or who have been a “no-show” to three events will be removed. A no-show is a member who RSVPs then does not attend and does not communicate to the host regarding why. Please RSVP mindfully.

Unified Mindfulness is a comprehensive system of mindfulness meditation that was designed with science in mind. Currently, institutions like Harvard Medical School, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Vermont use it as the basis for their research on meditation and its application in the neurosciences, psychology, clinical sciences. Although it is a secular system that does not require any religious belief, it's flexibility and precision also allow for integration into a variety of spiritual practices.
