On Saturday, 8th December 2018, the Deutsch-Englischer Freundeskreis and the Evangelic Church in Karlsruhe are inviting again to a traditional Christmas Carol-Singing in English. It will take place at the Kleine Kirche near Marktplatz. Susanne Labsch, parson at the Christuskirche and Claudia Rauch, parson of the Alt- und Mittelstadtgemeinde will lead through the service with prayers and readings.
About the tradition of Christmas-Carol-Singings
Carols are songs or hymns where the lyrics are about Christmas or the winter season in general. They have a long history not just in Great Britain, where they appeared first in the 15th century. The songs which had been sung in the Kleine Kirche over the last 30 years had their origin in the 18./19. century and are a mixture of religious and popular carols not just written by english composers.
