    We will meet at the Tower Road parking lot for an easy pace two hour loop on the central lagoons. You can bring your own boat, or rent from CRC for $15 to $20 an hour at http://bit.ly/1ee8gYz Have your boats ready at 9:30 and we will launch at 9:45 sharp! We will launch from the shoreline of lagoon no. 3, go right (west) to Tower Road bridge, head north under Tower Road into lagoon no. 4 and lagoon no. 5, go to the dam at the north end of lagoon no. 5, and then retrace our route back to the launch area. Please note that we plan to have boats loaded on cars and be out of the parking lot by noon. Dress in layers to keep warm and wear shoes that can get wet when launching and landing, wear your life jacket, and please note that everyone signs a waiver at this event.   • Map & Compass Course, $39, at Grove No 4, Busse Woods

    This $39 outdoor map & compass course (new for 2015) lasts three hours and covers topographic maps, the baseplate compass, plotting, declination, and bearings. A topo map will be supplied for the course. You may bring your own baseplate compass or use one of ours. Minimum age is 10 for children. We will discover how topo maps are used, and learn about contours, landmarks, meridian lines and the map legend. Then we will practice how to take and follow bearings in the field, how to plot distance and bearing to waypoints or landmarks, and how to take and plot fixes. Finally, we will discuss declination (magnetic north versus true north) and learn about downloading online topo maps from the U.S. Geologic Service. Please register and pay at http://bit.ly/1EeaBaR, and please arrive 10 minutes before class to check in and get acquainted. We will be outdoors, so dress in layers for the weather, and wear walking or hiking footwear. Please bring a water bottle, any snacks or personal medicines you may need, and bug repellent and sun block if appropriate.
