Because we can only park here without a sticker, prior to June 15 and after Labor Day, I will post it 3 times before I leave for Florida....hoping that wind or rain will allow the trip to take place at least twice. There is no parking on the road leading to the ramp.
This is a gorgeous paddle, end to end, and if you like a little ocean kayaking, you can head out into Poponesset Bay after your river paddle. We paddle through the Mashpee Woodlands Conservation Area, always seeing some birds along the shoreline and osprey overhead. It is a beautiful paddle with houses only at the beginning of the trip.
High tide in Poponessett Bay is about 8:42 AM, so water should be going up the river as we paddle up the river and there might be enough water for us to paddle all the way to the end of the river.
DIRECTIONS: Meet at the town landing at the end of Mashpee Neck Rd. From US 6, take exit 5. Drive on MA 149 south, and then turn right onto MA 28 north. Go 3.5 miles and turn left onto Orchard Road. Drive another 0.5 mile and turn right onto Quinaquisset Ave. A quick left will take you onto Mashpee Neck Rd; it’s 1.5 miles to the town landing parking area...at the very end of the road. Do not be tempted to take a right prior to the end of the road.
We'll in the water and moving by 10:00 AM.
Cancellation forced by weather will be posted the night before and I will email all who have RSVPd.
All paddles are for experienced and energetic paddlers. This is not a place to "get experience on the water"...you need that experience before paddling with this group. No guests on paddles.
