end of Center Street, Yarmouth Port, MA
There are 3 different routes that can be taken from the launch at Grey's Beach / Bass Hole: two are up Chase Garden Creek and White's Creek and a third that I only did once, is beyond the end of the boardwalk into the marsh. Today, we will do the marsh.
Grey's Beach has a huge, paved parking lot that NEVER requires parking stickers, restrooms, a beach and a long boardwalk going out over the marsh...and 6 Osprey nests in the area. Plus, it has a super easy launch is shown below.
High tide in Barnstable Marsh is a bit later than might be ideal, 12:11 PM, but we should be OK. I will lay down a track on a hand held GPS, as the marsh meanders and everywhere in there looks the same to me.
DIRECTIONS: From Rt.6, the Mid-Cape Highway, take exit 8 and go NORTH on Union St. to Rt 6A. Cross 6A, by going a tiny bit left to the left of a gas station to get on Old Church St. (If you miss that and are on 6A heading west, take the next right on Playground and head north...it will join Old Church St.) About 0.3 mile up Old Church from 6A, bear right at the stop sign onto Center St. Go 0.5 mile on Center and at the T, take a left to stay on Center and drive until you see the parking lot. Go BEYOND the parking lot and see the ramp just before the boardwalk. Unload your gear and park your car in the lot.
