Hawknest State Park is an undeveloped park that feels like a conservation area....great for a walk, followed by a swim in crystal clear water of a kettle pond.
This is an easy 2.5 mile walk on dirt roads, away from ticks, in a gorgeous, heavily wooded area with multiple ponds. People and dogs can swim from a tiny, tiny "beach" in the crystal clear water of Hawksnest Pond.
There always needs to be at least 3 people to sign up for a walk to happen. Guests are welcome on walks.
Directions: From Rt.6, the Mid-Cape Highway, take exit 11 and turn south on Rt.137. Go a VERY short distance to the first street on your right, Spruce Rd (easy to miss). Spruce is just north of Pleasant Bay Rd. Go right / west on Spruce. When you have driven 0.5 mile, you will see a faded colored flag with beach shoes on it, on the left. Go PAST THAT and keep driving to the next dirt road on your left. See a sign for NATHAN WALKER RD. We'll meet at the corner of Spruce Rd and Nathan Walker at 9:00.
