Let's celebrate both Christmas and Kent Outdoor Explorer's One Year Anniversary!!! Last December I formed this group, little did I know it would expand into a tremendous circle of friendly, lively outdoor enthusiasts.
Our walk takes us from Canterbury to Whitstable along The Crab and Winkle Way. It follows part of the original trainline route that first operated from Whitstable to Canterbury in 1830. This was the world's first passenger line and the world's first season ticket was issued for this route. It is roughly 8 miles, passing through Blean Woods.
We will leave Canterbury at 10am prompt from the Jaguar showroom on St. Peter's Street. I would recommend arriving by 9.45am, there are cafes and toilets near this meeting point. We will then walk The Crab and Winkle Way to Whitstable.
I have reserved a party space at the Duke of Cumberland in Whitstable. There will be a buffet of hot and cold food and dessert (drinks can be bought from the bar). After we have eaten we will move into the main area of the pub to continue our celebration.
I have organised a Charity Raffle with great prizes from local Kent producers. Tickets cost £1 each and can be bought on the day. All the money from this raffle will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.
The cost of this event is £10 per person, which includes the walk and the buffet lunch. Please pay in full to reserve your place by Friday 25th November. There are only 50 places available, so book early! To book please message me and I will send you the bank details and booking information.
If you are travelling back to Canterbury after the walk, there are buses that leave from the main high street, please ask me and I will show you the right direction to go in. Whitstable also has a train station with trains to Faversham (and Canterbury East), Margate, London etc.
Please email me on [masked] if you have any questions.
