    What we're about

This is a group for ALL motorcycle enthusiasts within the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. If you are looking for a group of like minded people who love to ride, then you're in the right place.

We started this group because we want to create a platform for bikers to meetup and ride together. This group is open to ALL types of bikes, and bikers, on a non-exclusive basis.

Prior to participating with our rides, please read the information contained with the "Pages" Tab located on the top banner, or click on the following Titles -- Topics include:

    • Safety and the Bottom Line (https://www.meetup.com/Kentuckiana-Motorcycle-Meetup/pages/23888142/Safety_and_the_Bottom_Line)

    • Your First Group Ride? READ THIS !! (https://www.meetup.com/Kentuckiana-Motorcycle-Meetup/pages/23888109/Your_First_Group_Ride__READ_THIS_%21%21)

    • Group Riding - Formations and Rules to Follow !! (https://www.meetup.com/Kentuckiana-Motorcycle-Meetup/pages/23888069/Group_Riding_-_Formations_and_Rules_to_Follow_%21%21)

    • Legal stuff -- A MUST READ !! (https://www.meetup.com/Kentuckiana-Motorcycle-Meetup/pages/23887877/Legal_stuff_--_A_MUST_READ_%21%21)

We want members of this group to feel free to meet when they want, and not feel obligated to be a part of something more than it is. Because this is a site for you, the enthusiast, feel free to make suggestions for meetup events, even if it's something as simple as you having a day off and wanting someone to ride with that day! Fill out the "Suggest a Meetup" on our home page under the Welcome heading, see who shows up, and have fun.

We promote local rides as often as possible, meetups for monthly maintenance, and safety discussions and courses, Road Captain training, and meetups just to talk bikes. We also promote, coordinate and plan longer rides to popular destinations like The Dragon, Americade, or Sturgis. Charity rides and Patriotic rides are real big with bikers, and you will see those rides posted here often. You are welcome to promote your motorcycle event and / or ride on KMM.

A typical day ride may consist of meeting up on a weekend morning, riding somewhere for a few hours, stop for lunch, ride a few more hours, maybe grab some dinner, then ride home. All events are subject to the weather.

Safety is an important part of this group, helmets and other safety gear are strongly encouraged, but we recognize personal choice. Many of our riders practice ATGATT - All The Gear All The Time!

Biker etiquette: For group rides, remember to buy your Road Captain lunch or dinner. For rides with a chase vehicle, it's common to split the costs for gas and the driver's lunch between all participants. We are Ambassadors of Freedom, so be courteous and wave at all bikes, not just your brand of choice. Road Captains are encouraged to conduct a brief safety discussion before each ride and distribute route maps if possible.

Blocking at intersections: Unless the specific ride has a police escort, or a licensed Traffic Guard, we do not encourage blocking intersections to allow for the entire group to pass through. It is illegal and both the blocker and road captain may get a ticket and fines. It is also very dangerous for the blockers. For large group rides without police escort, we suggest smaller groups of 6 - 8 bikes to safely traverse intersections. The Road Captain can identify a safe place to pull over and wait for the group to reform, once you pass through a town or congested area -- This needs to be discussed before the ride.

Family friendly: KMM is family friendly social media -- If you want to promote something strictly adult oriented, please find another site. We understand some events may be inappropriate for kids, and that's OK - Let's keep the advertising clean.

*** This is NOT an MC. Members of MC's are welcome, but this is not that. ***
