Alchemy of A Dream: Conceptual High Fashion Editorial

From: Kevin Michael S.
Sent on: Thursday, September 27, 2012, 2:30 AM

Exclusive Conceptual High Fashion Conceptual Editorial Photography Workshop on December 8 & 9 in Los Angeles. Alchemy of A Dream: Archetypes of The Collective Unconscious was originally Published by Kevin Michael Schmitz in 2009 in 944 Magazine as an 8 Page Feature Editorial. We are taking this concept to another level by recreating and expanding on the Dreamscape Story through a complex Photographic Digital Montage by shooting high fashion models styled with SkinGraft Designer Wardrobe.  The mystery of creating these images will be revealed with this exclusive workshop in Los Angeles.   We will hold the first day on Advanced Post Production Techniques and show how you will mesh the images you shoot on sunday into a multi image photographic montage inversed and meshed together.   We will then go deep into the Business of Photography, Portfolio Cohesion and an epic panel of industry experts such as Shay Nielsen, Executive Producer for Mario Testino, Patrick Demarchielier, Craig McDean, Steven Meisel, Steven Klein, Greg Lotus and all top photographers for Art + Commerce (The Best Photography Agency in the world that reps all photographers that shoot Vogue, Vanity Fair and Harpers Bazaar), Cindy Rowe, Senior Art Buyer at Saatchi & Saatchi,, Senior Art Buyer at 72andSunny (Ad Campaigns for Activision, Sony), Jason Lau, Art Buyer at Team One, as well as Photography Agent Scott Meyer, and Fashion Industry Expert Crystal Wright who has published 30 days at 100% as well as The Hair, Makeup & Fashion Styling Portfolio Guide.

The Second Day will be a Large Scale High Fashion Editorial Photoshoot with the very best location lighting equipment sponsored by ProFoto and Samys Camera.

We are casting models from FORD, Wilhelmina, ELITE, LA Models, NEXT, Vision, Sirena, Models International and Brand.  After receiving casting options from the top agencies, I will post my top choices on the meetup page.  I really love to have the photographers that take part in the workshops get really involved in the production and I ask you to give your own suggestions on model choices! As well as art direction on the shoot!

Day 1: - Dystopian Studios -    We are Art Directing and Designing your fashion story that you will be photographing on the second day.  We will go into Portfolio Cohesion, Editing, Post Production, Retouching, and each student receives consultation from our Expert Panel. We will be going into detail about the business of photography, networking, marketing self-promotion, maximizing usage rights and profits as a photographer and taking your career to the highest level.

Day 2: - The second day is focused on the "Portfolio - In - Day" concept where you focus on Location Lighting Techniques to create stunning fashion editorial & advertising imagery for major magazines and fashion designers. You will have the opportunity to photograph a commercially marketable fashion and beauty photography portfolio in a day! Working with top agency represented fashion models, the very best wardrobe, hair and makeup artists, prop stylists and an incredible location, you will tell a dynamic fashion story through your photographs while you learn advanced location lighting production and work with over $150,000 in high end lighting equipment.

The spreads below were from workshops that have been published in the August Issue of The Los Angeles Fashion Magazine, along with an entire feature story about these photography workshops that I direct in LA, Miami, NY, Chicago and Milan, Italy.
