Kew Bridge Travel in partnership with Giltedge Travel are hosting a coffee morning at the Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club in Richmond.
Please come and meet Paul Gardiner, CEO of Giltedge, to hear his stories of Africa. Paul will share his experience of working with the people of Africa to create wonderful travel experiences, which respect the natural environment and promote wildlife conservation.
Founded in South Africa in 2001, Giltedge are leading experts in holidays and safaris to Southern and East Africa, including Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Congo.
Please join us to hear about the sensational natural environments of the Okavango Delta, the Skeleton Coast, Victoria Falls, Ngorongoro Crater and the Great Rift Valley, and encounters with gorillas, elephants, lions and leopards... and penguins!
Paul will offer practical advice on planning a trip, including when to go, how to get there and how to get around, the choice of accommodation available, and an indication of the cost of creating these inspiring journeys.
The Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club is close to the centre of Richmond, ten minutes’ walk from Richmond rail / tube station. Limited parking is available at the club.
There is a small charge of £3 (plus 50p PayPal fee) to contribute to room hire and expenses. This will only be refunded if the event is cancelled by the organiser. The payment cannot be refunded in the event that you cancel or fail to turn up.
The coffee morning is likely to end around noon.
Chinese New Year starts on 1st February and this year we celebrate the year of the tiger.
Known in China as the Spring Festival, the event commemorates the reawakening of the natural world after a harsh winter, and the start of the annual cycle of growth and prosperity.
Chinese New Year is celebrated throughout East Asia and by the Chinese diaspora throughout the world. A key feature of the celebration is the reunion lunch or dinner, where families come together to share a traditional meal usually on the eve of the new year.
Let's join the celebration with a reunion lunch in London's Chinatown on Sunday 30th January.
One Plus is located in the heart of Chinatown on Gerrard Street, which will be brightly decorated and buzzing as the community looks forward to the biggest event of their year.
The restaurant gets mixed reviews, but it is one of the few restaurants to accept bookings on a Sunday. I have booked the table at One Plus for 13:00.
Chinese food is typically shared, especially on this special occasion, so for an authentic experience we'll order food for the entire table and split the bill equally between us. However, individuals may order and pay for their own drinks.
My contacts are [masked],[masked].
I do not charge a fee for this meetup. However, I shall take a deposit of £10 per person, plus the PayPal transaction fee. I will return the deposit (but not the fee) to you in cash when you arrive at the restaurant. To be fair to other members and myself, this deposit is not refundable if you cancel or fail to show up.
Richmond Literary Lunches and Dinners are hosted at the Royal Mid-Surrey golf club, Old Deer Park, in a wonderful dining room with a view to Kew Gardens, the Kings Observatory and two golf courses. Each event is an occasion to hear authors speak about their life and their works, while enjoying a pleasant social gathering and a delicious meal.
The next dinner offers a chance to meet the popular biographer Anne Sebba and gain an insight into the intensive research she undertakes to discover the truth about her subjects.
Anne Sebba is a biographer, lecturer, journalist and author of eleven
books for adults. Her biography, THAT WOMAN, the Life of Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, quickly became a bestseller on publication in Britain in August 2011.
Tim Battle, Librarian, comments "The less known about the
person when writing a biography, the more room there is for fiction.
Anne Sebba is the polar opposite; meticulous research is her hallmark, going to extraordinary (and sometimes dangerous) lengths to research for new material, it is not a matter of simply going through the archives".
The event starts with a glass of wine on arrival, followed by a delicious two course dinner.
Kew Bridge Travel supports Richmond Literary Lunches and we are pleased to invite members of the social group to come along and enjoy this enjoyable and exclusive event.
The price is £38.00 per person, which includes Meetup / PayPal fees.
Payment cannot not be refunded in any circumstances, unless the event itself is cancelled by Richmond Literary Lunches.
This tour covers the popular “golden triangle” of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. We enjoy the dynamic mix of people in the capital, marvel at the majesty of the Taj Mahal, and explore the historic pink city.
But we go further. To the sacred city of Varanasi on the River Ganges. And we make an extended expedition through Rajasthan into the Thar Desert visiting Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur.
This small group tour is created exclusively by Peirce & Leslie for the Kew Bridge Travel Social Group. Thirteen days full of interesting and enjoyable activities and specially curated experiences.
This is one of a series of small group tours which have been created exclusively for the Kew Bridge Travel Social Group. Each tour itinerary embraces our theme of inspiring journeys, packed full of enjoyable activities and unique experiences. The tours will be led by professional local guides who offer a personal insight into their country.
In the present circumstances, with ongoing uncertainty over the pandemic, it is difficult to know when we shall be able to run these tours. We cannot commit to a departure date, and hence we cannot guarantee a price.
However, in order to post a tour on Meetup it has been necessary to show the proposed departure date of 5th March 2022.
The cost of the tour will be around £3,800 per person based on single occupancy rooms, in good quality four star hotels. This means you’ll enjoy the privacy of your own hotel room, but the companionship of travelling with other members in a small group.
That indicative cost does not include the four domestic flights within India, nor the international flights between London and New Delhi. The price of flights varies with date of departure and can only be confirmed at the time of booking, but as a guide, the domestic flights are currently £320 and the international flights are likely to be around £500 in economy class.
If you are interested to find out more about the trip, please click on “I’m going” entirely without obligation. That is purely an expression of interest, not a commitment. Or you may send me a message or email [masked]. I can then send you the detailed day by day tour itinerary, information on the hotels, and explain what we include in the price.
I really look forward hearing from you and welcome your feedback and suggestions. I hope you like the tour itineraries which we have put together and I hope we'll be able to run these holidays next year so members can share the enjoyment of inspiring journeys.
