The instructor will provide clear, concise information on how to manage common injuries and illnesses, as well as new and updated content on the use of hemostatic dressings and the application of tourniquets to stop severe bleeding. Students will learn how to use an epinephrine auto-injector, recognize the signs and symptoms of a stroke, differentiate between heart attack and cardiac arrest, and more. 10% discount for volunteers! CPR & AED

Palmer Municipal Fire Department

Thank you for your interest, we will try again in the future. _________________________ This is an instructor-led certification course that teaches how to perform CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. This course adheres to the 2015 International Consensus Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC). It is intended for community members with or without prior training including parents, teachers, police officers, firefighters, and others (not for healthcare professionals). _________________________ Attendees will receive a CPR & first aid pocket guide and a CPR face shield. 10% discount for volunteers! Wilderness Medical Care

Palmer Municipal Fire Department

Wilderness Medical Care provides training on how to appropriately manage illnesses when transport to the nearest treatment facility will take hours or days, due to being in remote rural locations, wilderness areas, or even urban areas during a disaster situation. This 8-hour course is great for hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as Search & Rescue crews, Firefighters, and EMS personnel. Participants will learn assessment techniques and treatments for altitude illness, shock, heat illness, hypothermia, anaphylaxis, infection, and more. _________________________ Current certification at or above the level of Basic First Aid is a prerequisite. If you are not currently First Aid certified, please register for the First Aid class being held March 23rd. Successful completion of Wilderness Medical Care will earn an 8-hour basic Wilderness First Aid certification. Successful completion of Wilderness Medical Care and Wilderness Trauma Care will earn a 16-hour standard Wilderness First Aid certification. Wilderness Trauma Care provides training on how to appropriately manage injuries when transport to the nearest treatment facility will take hours or days, due to being in remote rural locations, wilderness areas, or even urban areas during a disaster situation. This 8-hour course is great for hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as Search & Rescue crews, Firefighters, and EMS personnel. Participants will learn assessment techniques and treatments for shock, hemorrhage, sprains, fractures, insect and animal bites, and more. _________________________ Current certification at or above the level of Basic First Aid is a prerequisite. If you are not currently First Aid certified, please register for the First Aid class being held March 23rd. Successful completion of Wilderness Trauma Care will earn an 8-hour basic Wilderness First Aid certification.
