What we're about

Welcome to our first ever KiZouk - Kizomba & Zouk Fusion Meetup in Boston!

This Meetup group is specifically created to build and develop a strong and diverse community of Zouk and Kizomba dancers from beginners to professionals. Everyone who tries it once falls in love with these styles! No partner needed! Join to try it yourself!

Now, here is a little bit about these two dance styles:

Kizomba and Zouk are two emerging sensual rhythms characterized by beautiful addictive music and elegant dance figures.

Brazilian Zouk is a partner dance originating from Brazil. Also known as zouk-lambada, the dance is a descendant of lambada, the music & dance style that swept over the world like a storm in the late 1980's. Brazilian Zouk is characterized by the dancers’ undulating bodies and the girls' flowing hair. Depending on the style of Brazilian zouk, you can see a close connection embrace and long graceful steps, strong hip movements, body isolations and upper-body torsions, wild spins and whip-like head movements. While the dance is often called sensual, it is not sexual or erotic. It is danced by people of all ages in nightclubs, dance schools and events around the world!

Kizomba is an African dance characterized by close partner connection and smooth, grounded movement. In kizomba, there is no “basic step”, movement with the music is the priority. Kizomba is a close dance but is only as romantic or sexual as you and your partner choose to make it. As with any social dance, courtesy and respect are basic expectations, so there’s no need to feel intimidated by the social floor! Kizomba is a wonderful, moving dance that will appeal to new dancers and veterans alike.

Now, getting back to our group. There are no rules for this Meetup except 2:
1. We treat everyone with respect
2. This group is open for anyone who wants to contribute in developing Zouk and Kizomba communities in Boston

For the firstcomers, you don't need to have a partner to attend any of the parties. We get so many people from all over town that is easy to connect with and meet new people for a dance. We will do our best to entertain you with fun lessons, great music, and awesome dancing.

Anyone can use this group to tell about KiZouk Socials, Classes and Gatherings.
