Been waiting for a long time to get a shot at these summits. These gorgeous mountains sit along the north end of the Chiwaukum mountains and are within good access of Highway 2. The weather forecast is looking phenomenal so far and the avalanche forecast may be favorable. For those who attempted last year, this may be time for redemption...
I am looking for some strong individuals who are able to snowshoe up the side of a mountain for over 5,000 feet of gain. The snow will be deep so we will do rotations of breaking trail so no one gets too tired. Individuals should be in great shape and be experienced in winter travel.
All attendees should meet at the Park and Ride at 3AM. That should leave enough time to get to the starting point. We will start from the gate on the White Pine Road at 5AM. We will then walk roughly 1.75 miles along the road until we break and go straight up the hillside. The climb will be steep and very challenging. We will eventually summit North Chiwaukum. We will then cross the ridge over to Middle Chiwaukum. After taking in the phenomenal views, we will head back the same way. Afterwards, there is the option for beer and food at Bull's Tooth on Steven's Pass.
