This is a group for people who enjoy trying new wines, sharing delicious food and socializing with warm and engaging people. Travel tour groups to wine regions will be planned as well post-covid. We have monthly socials hosted by a different member every month- usually on a Saturday night. Bring a bottle of wine and an appetizer or a dessert for sharing. You can double up with another person to share bring the food and wine, if you wish. Each month we have a new theme and vote on our favourite food and wine. This is a self-serve event. Members are not required to taste all or any of the wines.
This group is open to adults only who are over 19 years of age. Couples, singles, newcomers – basically anyone who loves good wine and food and wants to make new friends. Members are often willing to host an event but it’s not a requirement as some people live in smaller places or out of town. Hosts will rotate monthly and should live within the Kingston city limits so that public transportation, cabs or uber can be used. An approximate range to spend on wine would be anywhere from $12 to $25. If you want to splurge and go higher just know that not everyone is able to do the same. If you are buying a lower cost wine, try to find the best wine you can for the cost. There are some wonderful low-cost wines from Portugal, for example. The folks at the LCBO can help you pick one out.
The cost is $2 into our Toonie jar to help support the cost of having a Meetup listing and to pay for prizes and other expenses.
Please drink and drive responsibly. A list of cab companies and phone numbers will be available at every meeting.
Please note: Because events are held in private homes, it cannot be guaranteed or expected that these will be allergen free events. We will notify members if pets will be in the home. However, the food and wine served may contain nuts, sulphites, dairy, gluten and other substances which may cause allergic reactions. Also, other air borne particles and scents to which some may react may be present. Those with allergies should be aware of these circumstances and take necessary precautions. Good wine tasting guidelines suggest limiting personal scents as they interfere with the bouquet of the wine.
