…kinky, and want to hang out with like-minded people?
…looking for a group where you can feel safe and accepted?
…interested in exploring your creative side in a low-pressure environment?
Whoever you are, you’re welcome at KFIF Play Ukulele!
***WHAT IS KFIF PLAY UKULELE?***
We meet for an hour each month to learn a new song on the ukulele, and we’d love you to join us!
***SOUNDS GREAT! HOW DO I SIGN UP?***
Just email KFIF.Ukulele@gmail.com to book your place, and let us know how much ukulele experience you have. You’ll be sent more information, including the song we’ll be learning at our next meet up.
***WHAT IF I'M NOT KINKY?***
Everyone’s welcome! Whether you’re kinky or not, sexual or asexual, musical or never touched an instrument in your life.
***HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M A KINK-FRIENDLY INTERSECTIONAL FEMINIST?***
Do you judge people for who they are? If not, you’re probably one of us!
Kink-friendly doesn’t have to mean you’re into kink or BDSM personally, just that you’re not going to judge other people for their interests or lifestyles.
Intersectional feminists recognise that different people experience different forms of discrimination because of their gender or sexual identity, race, age, class, background, physical or mental ability, religion, or ethnicity.
You don’t need to know everything about what this all means, you just need to respect other people and their experiences. There’s not going to be any kind of quiz!
Note: KFIF Play Ukulele supports trans rights, and sex workers’ rights.
***IS THIS A SEXUAL EVENT, OR A PLACE TO PICK UP PARTNERS?***
Those events can be great! But KFIF is a completely non-sexual event, and not a place to come to pick up partners. We just hang out, play the ukulele together, and eat cake.
We have a no tolerance policy on any behaviour that makes anyone feel uncomfortable. Anyone persisting in inappropriate behaviour will be asked to leave.
***DOES IT COST?***
There’s no cost! Just come along and bring your ukulele. Although the Canvas Café does have an amazing £4 deal for a hot drink and (seriously delicious) cake, just for event guests. So we’d strongly recommend you take advantage of that!
To use the café’s Community Hub, we have to donate £10 for the café to provide a hot meal for someone in need. If you feel able to contribute anything towards this on the day, that would be very much appreciated. But this is in no way a requirement.
***WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A UKULELE?***
We have two spare ukuleles which you’re welcome to borrow, but they’re first come first served unfortunately. Please email KFIF.Ukulele@gmail.com to make sure we have one available for you.
***SO, ARE THESE UKULELE LESSONS?***
We'll be learning songs together in a casual and informal way, but these definitely aren't proper lessons. If you'd like to properly learn the ukulele, we can recommend www.learntouke.co.uk.
Complete beginners are welcome, as are ukulele experts...but please be prepared to be patient and help the beginners! If you'd like to play the ukulele with a more experienced crowd, you might want to check out www.ukulelewednesdays.com.
***IS THE VENUE ACCESSIBLE?***
The venue can be accessed with a wheelchair, but unfortunately there isn’t an accessible toilet. If anyone can recommend a fully accessible space, we’d be very interested in moving there!
