From crowdfunding to pitching at the Cannes film market, come learn about the trials & tribulations of fellow filmmakers who have smashed their targets raising thousands more than they were asking for. Plus our Audience Q&A is your opportunity to pick their brains & learn hacks & tricks to use in your own search for funding.

PETER J. STOREY is a producer, creative entrepreneur & founder of Greenlit, the crowdfunding platform dedicated to film. Peter began his career on sets as a gaffer, working up from student films to Hollywood blockbusters. He then took an MBA from the Cass Business School before working in film finance, overseeing tens of millions of Euros’ worth of international co-productions. His passion for film and filmmakers has led him to build a local challenger to Kickstarter & Indiegogo, aimed at empowering producers in funding their projects & finding their audience. He also teaches crowdfunding & film finance at universities & film schools across the country.


VANESSA BAILEY is a serial crowdfunder & an award-winning actress, writer & director. She has financed three short films through crowdfunding, running eight crowdfunds in total, across both Kickstarter & Indiegogo, with one campaign hitting 275% funded. Her first crowdfunded short SEEING HIM screened at 35 festivals worldwide, including the opening Gala of Oscar-qualifier Rhode Island & won 19 awards including Best Script, Best Short, & Best Actress. Her second short BUS STOP won four awards for the script & is currently in the final stages of post. Her third short THE LONG WALK HOME has just wrapped.

MARK BRENNAN is a filmmaker who recently completed a successful crowdfunding campaign for his short film SQUALL, smashing his target by 136% using Greenlit. He previously ran a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for the short film TEA FOR TWO, & a campaign on Kickstarter for the more ambitious TWELFTH MAN which did not reach target. Mark is also the director of the Exit 6 Film Festival, an annual short film event listed on FilmFreeway’s Top 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals.

NICCI BRIGHTEN is a multi-award-winning actress, voice artist & producer based in London & LA. To date, her films have achieved 80+ festival wins, nominations & official selections globally, among them Oscar-qualifying Sitges Film Festival, BAFTA-recognised Aesthetica, & the Méliès d'Argent Short Film Competition for A DOLL DISTORTED. The multi-award-winning NHS70 film NORA premiered at the BFI IMAX in August 2018 as part of TEDxNHS. She is now developing a new slate of international feature films & shorts & will be co-producing & starring as the title role in ERICA, the upcoming feature adaptation of SACRIFICE, a dark experimental short drama financed in 2018 through crowdfunding. Nicci is financing ERICA using both crowdfunding and private equity investment.

MAGDALENA HERFURTNER is a German producer/writer currently in development and production of several feature and short films. In 2015, she relocated to London where she took screenwriting classes at Central Film School. That same year, she became Quarter-Finalist of the Shore Scripts Screenwriting Competition with her feature film script WALKING ON THE FLATLINE. Since then she co-produced the multi-award-winning short film THE POWER OF ONE COIN after raising £30k through crowdfunding. Her current feature, ERICA, is being adapted from her previous short drama SACRIFICE which was also crowdfunded.
