Have you studied Bhagavad Gita or chanted in kirtan before? If so, please briefly describe your familiarity.

have attended some classes, gone to sunday service, and engaged in kirtan several times

Are you a spiritual seeker or interested in spiritual philosophy or ancient Vedic (Indian) teachings??

yes. i am interested in the philosophy that ultimately gives rise to the notion of bhakti yoga.

My name is Matthew. I've had a loose affiliation with Krsna devotees for about six years, starting when I had my first bite of prasadam at Govinda's in Tucson, AZ. I am now ready to move from the margins to the center.

What Matthew G. is saying about this Meetup Group

This weekly meetup is a thought-provoking and engaging examination of the Bhagavad Gita. The setting is intimate and relaxed, and as we work our way, verse by verse, through the Gita, group leaders Atma and Subhangada help guide our understanding of the rich philosophy contained therein. Many questions arise and much conversation ensues, and the group is designed so that each person is encouraged to raise questions and contribute to the dialogue that each class generates. Because of their deep familiarity with both the text specifically and Vedic/Indian culture generally, Atma and Subhangada can field any question large or small with ease and wisdom. What they do best, however, is help us to understand how this text, which is over 5000 years old, is actually relevant to our lives today. This class in not merely about the abstract philosophy of the Gita, but about how the wisdom of the Gita is so pertinent to our experience of life here and now. Each class is a real treat.
