This is a faith-based peer support group where we explore different themes that helps us be with our mental health challenge. Many of the themes explore our life experience and thus connect easily into our experience of spirituality. This group has been meeting monthly since Oct, 2014.
With me (Gord) who is the primary facilitator going through a time of transition from being a pastor at Mannheim Mennonite Church to becoming a spiritual care provider for Palliative Care/Hospice and private practice spiritual director/psychospiritual therapist, the Living Room group is also going through a time of transition.
The reality of COVID-19 has also added many wrinkles to this transition. Throughout the early months of COVID-19, we were meeting regularly on Zoom, weekly for 3 months. During the past summer, we met around a campfire.
We had hoped to begin meeting at W-K Mennonite Church in Waterloo (an in-the-city location) on Wed. Sept 16 ...but they are not allowing any group, including themselves, meeting in the building. So, we will return to using Zoom for our next Support Group meeting on Wed. Sept 16 from 7 to 9 pm. If you wish to participate in this group, please let me know through sending a note by Meetup note, and I will send you the Zoom link.
We hope to have a new home soon where we can meet in person...once COVID-19 settles.
