What we're about
If you were ever interested in riding in a hot air balloon, learning to be a crew person for a hot air balloon, watching/hearing information about how hot air balloons work, volunteering to teach children about hot air balloons, helping with a fundraiser for civil legal aid using a hot air balloon, or just wanting to be part of a fun group to know when and where a hot air balloon will be set up in Kitsap County, then sign up!
Kitsap Legal Services is starting a raffle fundraiser over the next 6 months (starting November 2017) using a hot air balloon being set up all around Kitsap County to provide tether rides (hot air balloon tied to vehicles going up 75 to 100 feet). We will have great prizes at the final event AND for anyone purchasing a raffle ticket or helping with the fundraiser we will provide rides in the hot air balloon many times over the six months. We are also going to put together a learning program and go to the schools to teach children about the history, science, art, international connections, and other school subjects using hot air balloons. The Executive Director of Kitsap Legal Services is the hot air balloon pilot and organizer of this meetup group.
We will have monthly (or possibly semi-monthly) meetings for new and interested people with videos and demonstrations. From there people can apply to become a volunteer crew person to receive specialized training in all aspects of setting up and operating a hot air balloon (Mr. Wade is a FAA certified trainer for hot air balloons teaching people wanting to be crew members or pilots). The hands-on training meetings will be for 15 to 25 people who are available to help with setting up the hot air balloon (6 people minimum for each time the hot air balloon is set up). Crew members will earn free rides for them, their family, and their friends.
