What we're about
This group combines the healing powers of a support group with the craft of yarn-working. Knitting or crocheting provides focus and containment in a group, allowing members to maintain groundedness while exploring their internal landscapes. It's psychotherapeutic Stitch 'n Bitch!
If you are struggling with anxiety and have some things to get off your chest, this is a very safe and gentle way to introduce yourself into a group setting. No previous yarn-working experience is required.
This group also affords you the opportunity to watch the mind-body relationship in action! Because the mind and body are intricately connected, our inner landscapes manifest themselves outwardly, and our day to day experiences shape our internal world. The way we knit can reflect our personality. And with the gift of new physical skills comes mental and emotional growth! If you already knit, you've undoubtedly experienced this (holy sh*t, I made a cable stitch!).
You have to admit, it's pretty badass to work on yourself by knitting.
