Calling all urban dwellers and lovers. If you live in the city or enjoy doing things in the city, this group is for you. Hikes, art exhibits, music, festivals, wine tastings, train rides, full moon paddle on the Tennessee River at Volunteer Landing, hiking Ijam's, hiking with dogs and so on. We may do a few things farther out on occasion but the main focus will be on activities in the city proper.
Open 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset. Spring has sprung! Let's meander along the paths and see what's blooming - a great way to relax after work. Here's a link with information and directions: https://ag.tennessee.edu/utg/Pages/visitorinformation.aspx
This is a short but strenuous hike so please be up to the task if you sign up. It is steep and challenging on one side. Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to come along. For anyone interested, we can then go over to SoKno Taco for a bite to eat - dog friendly patio.
This is NOT for first time kayakers!! From April to June join an Ijams Naturalist on the 4th Saturday of the month as we explore nature from the seat of our Kayaks. This month we are paddling through the back channels at Ijams looking for prothonotary warblers. These beautiful birds have been known to nest along the banks of the Ijams River Walk, and the kayaks allow us the best view possible. We will also look for other spring migrants as we take our thorough paddle around Ijams islands.
The fee for this program is $30 per person. Members can enter the code WARBLER for $5.00 off. EVERYONE MUST HAVE A TICKET. Registration ends on Thursday, April 25th at 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions please contact Jeremy Clothier at [masked] or call (865)[masked] ext. 127. Leaves the dock at 3. I suggest we meet at 2 sharp, at the entry to the breeze walk, on the sidewalk basically. Otherwise, it will be hard to find seats together or on lower deck where the band plays. You can purchase tickets ahead of time online, which I suggest, or there. Also, it's the first cruise if the year and a great band so it's possible it could sell out.
