Evening Flatwater Paddle on The Pellisippi Blueway

The proposed Pellissippi Blueway provides over 50 miles of flat water paddling along the Pellissippi/Clinch River. The 20 miles of river between the Pellissippi Bridge and Melton Hill Dam is designated as a Tennessee state scenic river.” This is a trip open to all kayaks and canoes.  The longer your boat the faster you will be able to paddle.

You will be able to find us by the cars and trucks that are loaded with kayaks. We will paddle to Cactus Cliff (A cliff along the river with natural cactus along the rock) and you have the option to paddle on to Beaver Creek if you want.

The paddler is likely to see osprey, blue heron, comorants, Canada geese, ducks, owls, kingfishers, beaver, otter, muskrat, and deer.  The fisherman on this waterway can find bluegilll, muskie, saugeye, perch, trout, catfish, crappie, walleye, and a variety of bass.  The forest sections is mostly oak and poplar with some pine and cedar.  There are various wildflowers that are visible fromt he shore.

The plan:  Launch from Guinn Road (4115 Guin Road Knoxville, 37932) /

First off, incredible weather for such an outing. As a first-timer with the group, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I was thoroughly impressed. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I really appreciate that. I look forward to attending many more events in the future.

Hi, Ben- how long is this paddle? Does the water level depend on generating at Melton Hill Dam? Current? Shoals? Ramp at takeout? So many questions... Thanks- David

just trying to help Ben......At this point in the river the current and depth should be of no concern. There is a ramp, and i believe it is a paddle till you are done kinda trip. Some might go a little farther some might want to return before it gets too dark.

This will be a loop paddle, the put in and take out will be at the boat ramp at 4115 guin road in the Splash area. We should be done before night fall. If you want to paddle later you will need a headlamp or boat light. My number if needed[masked]

Ben, when I click on the attached map it shows the location as being downtown Knoxville. Can you adjust the map to show the correct launch location. Thanks
