The proposed Pellissippi Blueway provides over 50 miles of flat water paddling along the Pellissippi/Clinch River. The 20 miles of river between the Pellissippi Bridge and Melton Hill Dam is designated as a Tennessee state scenic river.” This is a trip open to all kayaks and canoes. The longer your boat the faster you will be able to paddle.
You will be able to find us by the cars and trucks that are loaded with kayaks. We will paddle to Cactus Cliff (A cliff along the river with natural cactus along the rock) and you have the option to paddle on to Beaver Creek if you want.
The paddler is likely to see osprey, blue heron, comorants, Canada geese, ducks, owls, kingfishers, beaver, otter, muskrat, and deer. The fisherman on this waterway can find bluegilll, muskie, saugeye, perch, trout, catfish, crappie, walleye, and a variety of bass. The forest sections is mostly oak and poplar with some pine and cedar. There are various wildflowers that are visible fromt he shore.
