A new community class has started at Churchill Gardens estate in Pimlico!
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOGA MATS ARE NOT PROVIDED AT THE VENUE, so please bring your own. you may also wish to bring a blanket for relaxation.
The class is advertised offline locally and at week 3 has around 5 regular students, so the RSVPs do not necessarily represent the numbers attending.
This is a Level 1 class and as it is a new class it is a perfect opportunity for anyone who is new to Kundalini Yoga to start practicing within a relaxed and supportive group environment. It is also perfect for more experienced students who would like a more relaxed practice.
This community class is open to younger yogis if they wish to attend and therefore there may be well-behaved children from the age of 10 in the class.
About Kundalini Yoga
A Kundalini yoga class incorporates physical postures, mantra, mudra, advanced breathwork and relaxation. It is a very meditative style of yoga, that will encourage you to maintain inner focus throughout, and is a great relaxer and stress-reliever. The postures are in themselves often simple and achievable by people of mixed levels of ability, however the repetition of the movements over time generates heat with the body and often requires physical strength, stamina and mental focus to accomplish to the full time.
About the class:
What to wear: Loose, comfortable clothing and bare feet
What to bring: Water, a yoga mat (if you have one, if not a towel or blanket), blanket for relaxation and an extra layer and socks for relaxation.
Preparation: Try not to eat anything for 2-3 hours before class. If need be a healthy snack like fruit is fine. Aim to arrive 10 minutes before the start time to give yourself time to set up before we start.
About the venue:
Churchill Gardens is an estate in Pimlico (I live there!) and the classes are held at the Resident's Association hall but are open to all. Please note that as such the room is not purpose built for yoga classes but is comfortable, light and really easy to get to find from Pimlico and Victoria tube stations.
