In this session we will learn about microcontrollers and the Arduino platform.
We will talk about what comprises a microcontroller and what it can do.
Then we will discuss the Arduino, which expands on the basic microcontroller by implementing an open-source electronics platform or board and the software used to make it simple to program.
We will cover the basic components on an Arduino board and how this can be connected to various inputs (sensors) and outputs (displays or actuators).
Finally we will see what a simple Adruino program looks like and how to load it into the Arduino and see it run.
We intend to have follow-on sessions on the first Monday of each month to explore the Arduino in more depth.
This first workshop is free and limited to 6 KzooMakers members.
If you have an arduino, you are encouraged to bring it.
Arduino's($10), Arduino project kits($50) and other related items will be available for purchase at the workshop, please bring cash.
