Having grown up with severe ADD, I understand the challenges associated with it. I am now an extremely high functioning adult and I own a music school that offers conservatory quality music lessons for children.
It is known that children with ADD and ADHD excel in highly skilled activities like music. This is because children with ADD can shift focus very fast and react to new stimuli very easily. If they learn to control their ability to shift focus instead of letting it control them, it can be a powerful asset and can carry over to even their schoolwork. Sometimes children with ADD who are taking music lessons end up doing far better than their unafflicted peers!
I think it's very important that children with ADD are given opportunities to pick up skills that they can excel in outside of academics. It gives them invaluable self confidence and can often teach them work habits they couldn't learn in a classroom.
This is why I am offering a free event for parents to bring their children to come to my music studio to listen to performances from my conservatory trained teachers, and even get a chance to try out instruments! Instruments that will be featured are violin, viola, cello, and guitar. I share a space with Charles W. Liu Fine Violins, a high end violin shop in Hollywood. Parking is free and available in the back of the building.
The event is free and RSVP is required. Please tell me the ages of your children in the comments so that I can be sure to have the right size instrument in stock!
