Its great fun, lots of pictures and jumping. Are we really competing against other Silverlight user groups?

I really like the folks in this group. They are very techie and some have both techie and functional backgrounds.

I attended Silverlight User group meeting at Granada Hills and I must say the organizers had put in lots of efforts. The presenter had excellent knowledge and I can relate to his experiences as a developer. The food cooked by Kim was excellent(Halibut - I just loved it). Yes how can I miss the raffle prizes that were given away at the meeting. Codesmith generator, Component one, component Art, telerik and so many more.... The list was endless. The resources available with this group are excellent and will definitely help the community grow. LASLUG you rock!!!

Because it's about the best technology ever created on the planet allowing you to do things in the markup you should easily do without lot of back end programming. No technology so far offered loose coupling of UI to a code behind without doing own tricks or patterns. HTML/CSS/JS combo should be highly discouraged and retired. Traditional web programming is no way reusable, you write the page, then when the look and feel need to change most of it gets recycled. And the stupid "session expired" idea: why users can not continue entering data after 2 hours lunch? The server racks are overwhelmed while billions of desktops are underutilized as UI gets rendered on a server for every interaction step. I feel being only one among 5 billion other people when I'm saying "Enough JavaScript blowing up every other site out there. Stop it.". Too many other people do still enjoy primitive, limited and cumbersome technologies created 15 years ago without any vision where it could possibly go...

As this is the first meeting, hard to say yet, but to network with developer that is interested in silverlight could be one reason.
