Moonlight paddle

Deams lake charges $5.00 for Hoosiers, and $7.00 for everyone else at the gate. Cash or cards...... Well, I have seen groups do night hikes, silent hikes, and moon lit hikes. Paddling at night is very do-able when done safely. Jim k spends a bunch of time on the ohio river at night. So I am thinking, lets do a Friday night moonlit paddle. Of course every one should bring a headlamp just in case, but the moon is full the 23rd, so this is one day later it will still look full to everyone. It also rises at 1954. So this should work out rather well barring any cloud cover.
If you plan on coming, please only RSVP if you have paddled with us before and are experienced. This is for safety, thank you.

This was my first meet up, everyone was awesome, I had a great time. Nathan showed me a great campsite for the night. Mark, Leon and Nathan paddled with me over there to make sure I made it in for the night. Super nice bunch of guys.

    Weather report for the area.

Clouds are starting to part here in South East Washington county. A little on the windy side though. Approx. 10 miles from Deam Lake. Should be partly cloudy by the time of the event at 8pm. Looks to be a good paddle on Deam Lake tonight.
Hope to see some of you there. I will be running late though. Probably just paddle around the boat ramp until I see you all coming back in.
How long will you all be on the water?

Did a last second solo paddle at Deam Lake from 6 to 8 last night. The harvest moon looked beautiful. Should be a great paddling Friday night, and hopefully someone will give Nathan that hug he mentioned he was needing Tuesday. Wish I could make it.

does anyone have a Kayak and PFD that I could barrow for this?

    September 23, 2010

talked to the falls of the ohio folks, who sent me to talk to the corps. From train bridge to train bridge is nation wildlife..... No camping. Kayak fish hike all of that, but if there is a tent or a fire, heads will roll. So we can't camp there. Open to ideas still. This might not be a good idea now that I am thinking about it more.

could be done, The island below the falls? I have heard of folks camping there before. I wouldnt be able to stay all night, my folks will be in town. But I like the idea! Bob find out if it is ok to camp there, or were ever you are talking about and I am cool with it!

Nathan the next day we have one at the falls of the ohio, maybe we can tag them together and camp on the island over night and paddle at night and in the morning. What do you think?

For the people who are saying harrods creek, I was really trying to stay on non-navigable water. I dont really want to be near any yahoo's in power boats in the dark. Safety.......

Yeah! Sounds good to me ! Closer is better for me, gotta work in the early am. But can always head straight to work from playing around on the water!
