I see all the conversation is on upcoming water safety and Ironman event so sorry to be "off-topic". But does anyone know if you can rent kayaks at The Parklands at Floyds Fork and how to do it? Thanks & Good Luck to all the Ironman/woman participants!

I believe Green Earth Outdoors rents canoes and kayaks at the Parklands

One week till the big dance, and things are looking good , but there is always room on the roster for more volunteers . So wake up your sleepy boater buddys and get them signed up for either day. Trainings will be Thursday night at the Community Boathouse 6:30 pm and Saturday after the practice swim, approximately 10:20am (yes I know that seems a bit off, but It allows out of town volunteers a chance to get ready for Sunday).
Trainings are strongly recommended if you have not signed up for this event in the past, and always a good brush up for the veterans.
For those who have signed up, thank you, and keep an eye on your e-mail , I'll update there as well .

    Todd Schindler,
Where do we sit as far as kayakers registered for both the practice swim and the actual event on Sunday? Do we need to solicit many more volunteers for kayak swim safety? Are we going to have a practice session? The event is next weekend.......

Make it two events man. This current post will confuse the people.....

There has only been one drowning in IM history (happened in Middle East somewhere) the rest have been heart attacks, and maybe one car impact .

I think the times listed are wrong..... The day of the competition we usually meet at around 5am......Sat swim practice is different time. Are we going to conduct a safety class prior to the event?

    July 24, 2014

    • Mr T.

I will tweak the time if need be, but Pros go in at 6:50 am

Brace yourself LACK'ers there will be updates for trainings , DESIGNATED buoys for everyone, and times I posted will keep you in good graces. First swimmers go in at 8am Sat . Pros start 6:50 am, and Age group starts 7am Sun. Times reflect a decent time to show up. I do my stump speech around 7:25 Sat, and 6:25 Sun . All are welcome to show up earlier to move gear and consume breakfast snacks/coffee.

Of course I haven't made a LaCK event in a wile, does everyone now roll on actual boater time ? (min 30 behind listed )

When I registered on the volunteer website, the time for Saturday was 7:30am-10am (maybe) at Joe's Crab Shack and Sunday times showed 6:00am - 9:30am at the Community Boat House.

The problem with the times listed is those are event times and don't allow for getting kayaks, gear, and people in the water prior to the start of the events. Those times need to be revised by Todd Schindler.
