The 5th Anniversary Dinner of My Taking Over This Group on Dec 29th, 2007

Hi everyone,

I can't believe it's 5 years already since that fateful day that I decided to take over this group after the original organizer stepped down. It was one of the bravest decisions I've ever made, but I can tell you it was certainly the best one!)

To celebrate the anniversaries in the past I've had dinners with the members at various places and for the 5th anniversary I had been wondering where to host, then one night while I was walking on Canon Drive I saw this beautiful little private room. I went inside and talked to the manager, Hoss, who was very nice.

Previously I was thinking of having a large group to celebrate with, but I just fell in love with the small private room that seats 12-13 people which surrounded by wine cellar walls, then I thought one thing:

"Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a small group for the 5th anniversary, so that at least I don't have to worry about too many no-shows and last minute cancellations? That way I can truly relax and enjoy the special dinner."

So... no matter what, this anniversary dinner meetup will be hosted by me. There's a minimum guarantee I have to make, but I'm willing to cover even out of pocket if there's shortage because this event means so much to me, marking my last 5 years of so much fun and constant learning. I just don't want to worry about anything, but celebrate with 11 other members, enjoying good food with wine and company.

And ever since the first Drago opened on Santa Monica Blvd in West LA about 20 years ago, I became a fan of Drago brothers, who now owns many places around LA. This is one of them and the restaurant got its name from the street Via Alloro that Tanino and Giacomino Drago grew up on in the town of Gelati Mamertino in Messina, region of Sicily.

We'll order from the menu and you can click the links below for dinner menu and wine list:

Could you join me for the celebration, please?

Thank you very much, Maxine, for the nice word! And I feel the same way. I was thinking of you the other day I got hit by the urge to go to French karaoke again!)) Yep, we should do that~~~

Karaoke! You know what I'm thinking might be mic singing at Ratata (remember when we did the galette there?). Be great if we could do this as a group event, no?

Thank you so much, everyone, for coming and celebrating for me. I'm very touched by your generosity and appreciate your help and involvement all through the year. How lucky am I to be surrounded by nice people like you and share the same passion! I can tell you that I'll be doing this for long time to come)

It was great. A small but select group of foodies who know how to have a good time. Although, Sally will never say this, but it's pretty nasty that people don't show up who said they would, when there was a waiting list of people who could have come.
